SGO

Evansville Day School encourages donors to take advantage of an incredible tax savings opportunity. In the state of Indiana, scholarship tax credits are awarded by Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGO) to mission-appropriate students to help them afford private education. Day School's partner SGO is the Institute for Quality Education (IQE). In fiscal year 2021-22 (July 1, 2021 – June 30, 2022), $17.5 million in tax credits will be allocated by the Indiana Department of Revenue for this amazing program. How does it work?
Individual or corporate donors who donate to EDS through SGO will receive a 50% tax credit on the donated amount against their state tax liability. There is no limit to the amount that can be donated under the $17.5 million cap. Day School applies your SGO donation towards the school’s operating fund to offset the cost of financial assistance given to qualifying families.
For example: if you donate $5,000 through SGO, you will receive a $2,500 Indiana state tax credit! In addition, you may be able to take a federal tax credit on the portion that was not used on your state tax credit. Always consult your tax advisor before making any charitable gifts.
