The halls of Evansville Day School are full of energy again. Laughter, conversations, and the excitement of fresh beginnings set the tone as we launch into a brand-new school year. From our youngest Eagles in JPK to our seniors preparing for their final year, we’re ready for a season of growth, discovery, and unforgettable moments together.

Keeping Our Community Safe

A huge thank you to our families for following our traffic safety procedures. As a reminder, left turns onto North Green River are not permitted during drop-off or pick-up. If you need to head that way, turn right and use the Spring Valley Road light to turn around. These small changes make a big difference in keeping everyone safe.

Give 812 – Every Gift Matters

Our community thrives when we come together. Give 812 is your opportunity to invest directly in the Fund for Excellence, which fuels innovative programs, supports exceptional faculty, and provides transformative experiences for our students. Every contribution—big or small—helps our Eagles soar. Make your gift today and be part of something extraordinary.

Back-to-School Clothing Swap

Through Wednesday, August 13, stop by the wall by the gym for our EDS Clothing Swap. Bring gently used school clothing to donate and browse for “new-to-you” pieces. It’s an easy way to refresh your child’s wardrobe, save money, and support other families.

Picture Day is Almost Here

This year, we’re partnering with Straub Photography. Order forms will go home with students next week, and payments can be made by card, check, or cash.

Picture days are scheduled for:

  • August 19: JPK–5th grade

  • August 21: 6th–12th grade

Extra forms will be available in the front office.

Lunch Updates

Hot lunch ordering will begin September 1, with the ordering window open August 22–26. Until then, please pack lunches for your students. Senior and junior parents—don’t forget to complete the Off-Campus Lunch Permission Form if you’d like your student to participate.

Health & Immunizations

  • Due September 19: Updated physical forms for new students, Kindergarten, and 9th grade; updated immunizations for 6th and 12th grade.

  • Sports Physicals: Required annually for all 9th–12th grade athletes, plus Final Forms registration.

Contact Nurse Anna Vance or Athletic Director Sarah Brooks with questions.

Community Connections

  • Friends of EDS PTO Meeting: August 13 at 5:30 PM. Membership is included in your school fees—just show up! Child care provided.

  • Meet the Leaders: August 26 at 5:30 PM or August 27 at 7:45 AM. Learn about academic goals for the year and connect with school leaders.

Kicking Off the Year Together

Our staggered start allowed students and teachers to ease back into routines, meet teachers, and connect with friends old and new. On Friday, August 15 at 2:10 PM, we’ll host a Back-to-School Pep Rally to sort new students and faculty into houses and build school spirit. JPK families are invited to join the traditional t-shirt exchange with our seniors—a heartwarming EDS tradition.

Mark Your Calendars

  • August 19: School Pictures (JPK–5th)

  • August 20: Fall Tailgate, 5 PM

  • August 21: School Pictures (6th–12th)

  • September 3: Meet the Teachers (JPK–5th)
