HLC Announces Middle School Mini-courses

Last year, Evansville Day School entered into a partnership with the Hybrid Learning Consortium (HLC). Founded at Barstow School in Kansas City, HLC is a growing “collective of independent schools around the world developing online courses.” Through a broad catalog of blended and online courses, students benefit from small classes, independent school rigor, global connections, and preparation for distance learning, which is increasingly utilized in college and beyond.

National Honor Society Inducts Ten

On Thursday April 27, Evansville Day School inducted the latest additions to the National Honor Society.  The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

Robotics Success

Evansville Day School’s Middle School Robotics took first and second place in University of Southern Indiana’s 10th annual LEGO Robotics Competition. The competition was held on Saturday, April 8, organized by the USI student chapters of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Approximately 25 teams from Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois gathered to compete.

Jose Mota Receives Armstrong Award

Upper School Social Studies Teacher Jose Mota was selected as a recipient of the Indiana University Armstrong Teacher Educator Award for 2017-18. The Armstrong Award not only recognizes Jose’s excellence as a teacher, but gives him an opportunity to work with current Indiana University faculty and undergraduates in the field of education. Mota says, “I believe the Armstrong Teacher Educator is a special honor because it allows me to work with future educators.

Day School Well-Represented at TedX 2016

The 2016 TEDx Evansville event, entitled “Pause. Play. Fast-Forward.” was held  on Saturday, October 1 at the Evansville Museum’s Koch Immersive Theater.  The Day School community was well represented among the featured speakers including, Head of School Jarin Jaffee, current parent Jill Griffin (Greta, class of 2025), and current parent Omar Atia (Jennah, class of 2024).  Additionally, trustee and current parent Jenn Schultheis (Will, class of 2021, and Peyton, class of 2016) was a member of the TEDx Executive Committee.
