Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO)
Evansville Day School proudly participates in Indiana’s School Scholarship Tax Credit Program through approved Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs). This program allows donors to support need-based scholarships for Day School students while making a meaningful investment in our community.
What is an SGO?
An SGO is an approved nonprofit organization that provides scholarships to eligible students attending private schools in Indiana. Donations made to a qualified SGO designated for Evansville Day School directly fund scholarships for Day School students.
Benefits to Donors

50% Indiana State Tax Credit
Donors may receive a tax credit equal to 50% of their contribution, which can be applied toward their Indiana state tax liability. This benefit is available to both individuals and businesses that qualify.

Federal Tax Deduction
If you itemize deductions on your federal tax return, your SGO contribution may be deducted from your taxable income, resulting in additional federal tax savings.

Avoid Capital Gains Taxes
By donating appreciated assets, such as stock, you can avoid paying capital gains taxes while maximizing the impact of your gift.
How to Donate
- Choose Your Donation Method: Select your preferred way to give, including online or by mail.
- Designate Evansville Day School: Clearly indicate Evansville Day School as the recipient of your donation.
- Claim Your Tax Credit: Receive a Tax Credit Certification Number (TCCN) from the SGO, which you will use to claim your credit on your Indiana tax return.
Important Notes
You may designate your gift specifically to Evansville Day School but not to an individual student.
Donations must occur within the tax year you wish to claim.
There is no limit on the amount you can contribute, but state-wide credits are capped annually.
