where students lead, create, and explore
Learning That Is Lived, Not Just Learned
At Evansville Day School, student life is personal, active, and full of possibility. Students don’t simply move through school—they shape it.
From Primary School through Upper School, students explore interests, take initiative, and grow into confident leaders. Small classes and strong relationships give students the space to ask questions, try new things, and discover who they are becoming.

Leadership Is Part of Daily Life
Students at Day School don’t wait for permission to lead—they’re encouraged to step forward. Leadership is practiced every day through classroom initiatives, mentorship, and shared responsibility.
The Student Leadership Council (SLC) gives Middle and Upper School students real responsibility and a voice in shaping school life. Organized into five student-led committees, SLC empowers students to drive change, plan events, support peers, and engage the broader community:
Academic Committee
Mentoring and supporting peers
Ambassador Committee
Welcoming new students and representing EDS
Co- Curricular Committee
Organizing events and school traditions
Community Service
Leading philanthropy and volunteer projects
School Culture Committee
building spirit, inclusion, and connection

Intersession: Learning Without Limits
In the Upper School, Intersession is a defining experience. Each year, students choose from four faculty-led, student-driven experiences designed to reflect the Portrait of a Graduate: Balanced, Resilient, Globally Minded, and Entrepreneurial learners.
Intersession immerses students in real-world learning—through travel, service, outdoor exploration, and career-focused projects. Students take an active role in planning: choosing locations, researching opportunities, and setting goals. Whether backpacking in the mountains, interning with professionals, or working on a community project, they take ownership of their learning.
What students gain from Intersession:
-
Independence and resilience through real challenges
-
Global perspective and cultural awareness
-
Entrepreneurial thinking and problem-solving
-
Lifelong memories and lasting friendships
Growing Into What’s Next
Day School students leave prepared not just academically, but as confident, adaptable leaders. Older students mentor younger peers, take on leadership roles, and explore real-world opportunities through projects, service, and internships.
By graduation, students have developed skills, confidence, and a sense of purpose that carries them into college, career, and beyond.
