Student Support Services

Evansville Day School recognizes that all students have unique learning profiles and we strive to meet the individual learning needs of all students.  Our Learning and Enrichment Specialist provides numerous direct and indirect support services to students, teachers, and parents beginning at the Preschool level and continuing through Grade Twelve.

General services provided by the Learning and Enrichment Specialist include:

  • Individual educational assessments to identify students’ strengths and weaknesses.
  • Recommendations for outside psycho-educational evaluations and related academic therapies (speech, occupational therapy, etc.).
  • Standardized testing data research, interpretation, and communication.
  • Communication of effective strategies, interventions, and/or accommodations.
  • Assessments of English Proficiency.
  • Collaboration with local public schools for the implementation of Individualized Education Plans.
  • Consultation and collaboration with parents, teachers, and outside professionals.
  • Development and implementation of student support and accommodation plans to match a student’s specific learning profile (typically based on submitted documentation of a learning or health impairment).
  • Coordinating enrollment and registration in outside enrichment activities.

Within the Lower School

  • Class-wide academic screenings at the Kindergarten and First Grade level.
  • Individual and small group instruction for student-specific learning needs.
  • Enrichment courses for high-achieving students.
  • Overseeing lunch-time chess program.

Within the Middle School

  • Small-group instruction on topics such as study skills, organization, memory and learning strategies, reading comprehension strategies, test-taking strategies, and learning styles.
  • Individual and small-group instruction for student-specific learning needs.
  • Coordination of the Northwestern University Midwest Academic Talent Search.

Within the Upper School Level

  • Individual and small-group instruction for student-specific learning needs.
