In the Primary School we value the importance of a healthy lifestyle, recognizing that nutrition and learning go hand in hand. Young children need foods that will support their growth and development, as well as maintain focus and concentration in the classroom. Our goal is to establish and promote healthy eating choices that our students will carry into adulthood.
Lunch Procedures:
Lunch is an important part of each child’s school day. Students are active at school for four hours after their lunchtime, so it is important that children use lunch as a refueling time. Providing healthy and appropriate lunchtime choices is crucial.
Catered lunches are available for student purchase. Information regarding specific vendors and prices is distributed during the first week of school.
Students who do not order from the catered service bring a lunch from home each day.
Snack Procedures:
Students in Junior Pre-K through Grade Two will be offered a morning snack. These snacks are provided by families from each classroom. Each homeroom teacher will distribute a schedule of snack providers at the beginning of the school year. We ask that any snacks provided err on the side of nutritional value rather than popularity. Cookies, sugary treats and chips are not considered acceptable snacks.
