“Love allows children to grow through their mistakes. Logic allows them to live with the consequences of their choices.”
-Jim Fay, Founder of Love & Logic
In the Primary School, we follow the Love and Logic philosophy when working with our students. This approach allows teachers to do what is most effective for each unique situation and for each unique child. Teachers work to build respectful relationships with their students, without the use of overt discipline and/or rewards. This encourages students to work hard for themselves and to find the joy in doing a good job. Natural consequences are used when students create problems. Students are expected to engage in finding solutions to challenges they encounter in the classrooms, hallways, or on the playground. Childhood mistakes are seen as opportunities to learn and grow. The Love and Logic approach reinforces our core values of personal responsibility, respect for others, and confidence in one’s ability to make appropriate choices.
