The Primary School provides a warm, encouraging atmosphere that strives to instill in each child the excitement of learning and the confidence to achieve academic and personal success. The academic program is designed to stimulate curiosity and enhance problem-solving abilities as children learn by doing as well as through directed teaching.  Primary School classes are taught with an approach that recognizes different learning styles and the unique needs of each student.

In the Preschool programs, the curriculum provides a balanced day, including structured academic work periods, adequate developmental play, and a variety of music and art experiences.  During the Primary School years, a traditional academic program and skill development are our primary focus, and our integrated curriculum encourages each child to become an independent learner and develop critical thinking skills.

Daily homeroom lessons in mathematics, language arts, and social studies reinforce each student’s skills and development.  Lessons with subject teachers in art, the library, music, physical education, science, technology, and world language (Spanish) round out the core curriculum and occur regularly throughout each week.

Finally, Evansville Day School relies on the Love and Logic philosophy to promote character education and problem-solving skills in the social arena.  All of our teachers and staff strive to emphasize cooperation and the building of positive relationships with both peers and adults.
