Teaching at EDS gives me the opportunity to work with talented students who are developing critical thinking skills and learning the fundamentals of mathematics and physics. I utilize my background in engineering to combine the theoretical aspects with everyday applications. I enjoy the small class sizes at EDS, which gives me the opportunity to work closely with each student in addressing individual learning styles. Math Department Head |

"I am passionate about my commitment to share with students my view of second language acquisition as a means of entering new worlds--to gain perspectives beyond their customary ones, to discover aspects of different cultures that would ordinarily be ignored, to develop empathy for people who live thousands of miles away. The study of a language is the opening of doors and the construction of bridges; it is above all an invitation to go beyond oneself and feel a vital part of a global community." EDS is a wonderful place for nurturing students. No student slips through the cracks here; even the quiet ones get a lot of time with the teacher. We work hard to get to know the students - academically, emotionally, and on an everyday conversation level. |

“I call on the positive energy and focus, the nurturing and encouragement, even the appropriate light touch and sense of fun that each student expects all of us to muster in and out of the classroom. Our students and their families deserve nothing less. Responsibility, hard work and play, accountability, respect, and tolerance--each of these critical, fundamental elements is fully embraced at EDS, which makes this such a great place to teach.” Indiana University--BA, Psychology University of Wyoming--MA, American Studies rzimmerman@evansvilledayschool.org |

My goal as a mathematics educator is to enable my students to see the power and relevance of math to their everyday life. My philosophy as an educator is that all students are capable of learning and being an impact on the community where they live. I strive to instill in each student the confidence to know that they are capable of achieving great things and making a difference in the world through their education! What I love about teaching is giving children opportunities to experience those “Aha!” moments. Learning is an extension of life and a quest to gain more knowledge and understanding daily. As the Enrichment Specialist at EDS, I strive to ensure that varied learning opportunities are placed before each of our students. Through assessment, direct instruction, and by providing classroom teachers with resources and ideas, students’ needs are addressed on an individual basis. Our goal is to meet each student wherever they are and build up their weakness by playing on their strengths. Evansville Day School provides an environment “ripe” for allowing allwho experience an education or teach here to soar to their highest potential. BA & MA in Special Needs Education K-12 |

My outlook on teaching and learning incorporates many aspects which I believe will help EDS create a culture of educational excellence. I am passionate and incredibly dedicated to my students. I strive for a classroom atmosphere which encourages students to think critically. I also utilize a personalized approach and high expectations to motivate students to achieve, by exploring complex ideas, their full potential. Through teaching at an amazing school, EDS, I envision both my students and myself growing, exploring, and having a wonderful and unique experience that will improve our lives through the visual arts.
