Congratulations to the
Evansville Day School
Academic Social Studies team
***

Congratulations to our Academic Super Bowl team, who participated in the regional
championships on Tuesday at Central H.S. EDS had four group winners.  They were
Social Studies, Mathematics, English, and Interdisciplinary.  Of particular note is our
Social Studies team that has qualified to participate in the state championship.
Only four schools are invited to participate from a pool of 64 teams from the entire state.
The entire social studies team is made up of freshman. They are John Pharo, Grace Stevens,
William Weitzel, Fred Folz, and Collin Taylor.  The team will travel to Purdue on May 5
to challenge for the state title. At the regional competition, the EDS team had the
highest score of the twenty teams that competed.  The teams included all
public and parochial schools from Evansville and the immediate area.

FYI—On Speech meet days, students may wear their dress clothes to school that day or bring clothes to change into before 3:00 departure from school.  Transportation to the meets is provided by parent volunteers. Nona Justice is coordinating the transportation, so if you would like to volunteer to take some members to a meet, please call Nona or Ms. Willis; otherwise, Nona may be calling you to help.  Students may purchase pizza, drinks, homemade baked goods, fruit etc. at the meets.  Three to five dollars should be sufficient to buy whatever your child would like. Remember, students will be at the meets from 3:00 to 7:30, so they will be hungry.

I will be communicating to the students verbally and in writing expectations for behavior and dress at the meets.  Look for the handout next week.  Feel free to call or email me at school if you have questions or concerns.
